What is this run about? 

All proceeds will go towards the The Forgotten Initiative (TFI). TFI aims to make a difference in the lives of agency workers, foster parents, vulnerable adults and children through service projects, mentoring and family support initiatives.

What is the registration donation?

Registrations are non-transferable and non-refundable.

5K Run (Age 8+) starts at 8:45 am

  • $25 until August 24
  • $30 from August 25 – September 23 (Guaranteed shirt by September 15)
  • $35 day of race (Registration closes at 7:30 am September 24)

Kids Mile (Ages 5-12) starts at 8:00 am

  • $15 until August 24
  • $20 from August 25 – Day of Race (Guaranteed shirt by September 15)
  • Registration closes at 7:15 am September 24

When is this run? 

The Spark 5k is on Saturday, September 24.

  • The Kids Mile will begin at 8:00 am. The Kids Mile will be around the large building on campus.
  • The Spark 5k will begin at 8:45 am. The Spark 5K Course will go uphill to the Manchester High School And Bailey Bridge Area. Race marshalls and signs will get you safely through the course.

The race will start and end at Clover Hill Assembly of God, 12310 Bailey Bridge Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23112. 

When picking up your pre-registered race packet, please note where you will meet your tribe. Find the Letter, Flag that corresponds to the tribe/group that best suits you. 

  • Flag Yellow : 30 minutes and under
  • Flag Blue : 30 minutes – 45 minutes
  • Flag Green : 45 minutes +
  • Flag Orange : 0.0 K (This means you have small kids and plan on just partying until racers return. Bring a lawn chair or something to sit on.)

What should I do with my bib?

Make sure that ALL bibs are worn on the front at chest level on the outside of all clothing to ensure the best possible race results.Use the pins given to secure the bib.

What does the Race Day Schedule look like? 

Please be sure to arrive on site at least an hour before the race to get settled, find your tribe and make your day more enjoyable.

Will there be any food available? 

Yes. Race participant food is free and available while supplies last under the red tents: granola bars, bananas and waters. Other food like Chick-fil-A Biscuits will be available as well while supplies last. Water: free

Is there a cut-off date for registration? To ensure you receive your fabulous Spark 5k t-shirt, please register no later than September 15, 2016. Any registrations after that date will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Are there any training plans available for those participating? 

What is included in my Spark run race fees?

Included in your registration will be an awesome t-shirt, post-race food and after party. All finishers will also receive a custom made medal.

What time do both races begin?

The Kid’s 1 miler will begin promptly at 8 am. The Spark 5k will begin promptly at 8:45 am.

Are strollers and/or pets allowed on the course?

For the safety of our runners, little ones and animal friends, we do not allow strollers or pets on the course.

Where will the race start/finish?

The 5k course will start and finish on the grounds of Clover Hill Assembly of God. Stick around after the race for what will sure to be an epic after party.

Where is the course?

As mentioned above, the 5k will start and finish on the grounds of Clover Hill Assembly of God. The race course will take you up the sidewalk on Bailey Bridge Road and the bulk of the course will include the Manchester High School and Bailey Bridge Middle School Cross Country courses! This is mostly a trail run. Forewarning, this course does have some hills. (So be ready to conquer those bad boys!)

For the safety of our little ones, the Kid’s 1 miler will stay on the grounds of Clover Hill Assembly of God. Four laps around the building will equal a mile.

Is there a rain out date?

A little rain can’t hold us down. However, if it is storming, there is not a rescheduled date.

Can someone pick up my race packet for me?

Absolutely! Just make sure they have a photo copy of your driver’s license.

When and where can we pick up the race packets?

You can pick up the race packets at the CHURCH OFFICE of Clover Hill Assembly of God, 12310 Bailey Bridge Road on Friday, September 23rd from 5pm-7pm. The office is located towards your right when you come on to the property.

Will there be water stations along the course?

Yes! We will provide a water station half way along the course, at the 1.5 mile marker as well as at the entrance of Bailey Bridge Middle School bus loop. We will also be providing bottles of water at the finish line.

Is there a spectator fee?

Absolutely not! We encourage all family and friends to come support you while you run/walk your hearts out!

What is the age limit for the 5k and the kids 1 miler?

The age limit for the 5k is 8 with a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian for anyone under the age of 18. Anyone from the ages of 4-12 can participate in the kids 1 miler.

Can I transfer my registration to another participant?

No, the Spark 5k is non-transferable.

If I am unable to participate, am I able to receive a refund?

No, we will not offer any refunds.

Will there be medical personnel on site?

Yes.

Will there be police officer’s or public safety officers on the course?

Yes. We will have a police officer at the entrance of Clover Hill Assembly of God, directing traffic, while race participants cross over Bailey Bridge Road.

Where is parking available?

Parking for participants and spectators will be located in the front and side parking lots of Clover Hill Assembly of God.

Will there be awards?

Yes, we will offer awards for the top 3 finishers in the 5k as well as the top 3 finishers in the Kid’s 1 miler. The awards ceremony for both races will be immediately after the top 3 finishers have completed the course.

Where can we find results?

There will be a link to Commonwealth Timing on our website after the race. You can find your official results by clicking on that link and entering your Bib number.

 

 

Will there be an opportunity to sign up on the day of the race?

Yes, we will provide race day registration up until 7:30 am.

Is the course the same as last year’s race?

Almost, but not quite! The course will not loop around the Bailey Bridge Middle School (BBMS) softball field or go up the BBMS hill. However, we will still include the BBMS bus loop but head back towards Manchester High School (MHS) and up the MHS hill! Warning: this is quite a hill so be prepared (Hill repeats during your training will bode well for you!)
